Wild About Britain

Books

Although I have lots of gardening books, I find these three very useful for making the garden “Wildlife Friendly”

“Attracting wildlife to your garden” by John A Burton and David Tipling; Published by Silverdale Books.

This is a Wildlife Trust book and beautiful book in its own right. It has lots of information on how to attract wildlife, planning a garden and identification of lots of species. It has wonderful photos throughout.

“Wildlife Friendly Plants” make your garden a haven for beneficial insects, amphibians and birds. By Rosemary Creeser.
Published by Collins & Brown.

Another useful and lovely book with great photos. Lots of plant information like where to plant, after care and what they attract. To make full use of this really you need a larger garden than ours as some of the trees mentioned are massive but I’ve been guided by this book with good results.

“Success with miniature ponds” By Walter Schimana.
Published by Murdoch Books.

This small book has so many ideas for ponds and water plants. Some of them are so small it makes ours look positively large – honest!
